Last night we had our 3rd annual Awards Banquet, hosted by The Pony Inn, which turned into our largest Awards Banquet ever. Thanks to everyone that contributed to the success of the night, including Mike Weiler, Alex Draper and Anthony Marinello, specifically.  Thanks to Dan "Danny Boy" Matuz for coaching this season, where the team made create strides and just narrowly missed the playoffs this Fall, and also for his contribution in developing our new award unbeknownst to me.  The 2009 video created by Bertrand Valero was absolutely amazing, and unfortunately for those of you that didn't attend, you most likely won't see the unedited version.  However, the commercial version is the best yet, so thanks to Fries for taking the time to create the video, and Mike Weiler for attending our games and providing the footage.  Here is the commercial version link:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lwQSLMb8fCw

We have just finalized the sponsor for our new black set of jerseys:

Silver Fern Events - Wedding Planning

www.silverfernchicago.com

Michelle Tisdall - Owner / Wedding & Event Coordinator

312-613-3376

michelle@silverfernchicago.com

I know several of our players are currently engaged or have plans to be over the next couple months, so if you are looking for a wedding coordinator, you should meet personally with Michelle.  I know from arranging my wedding that it is one of the most difficult experiences I've ever encountered, and the amount of time and knowledge needed to get everything arranged is something that is best left in the hands of someone experienced in this area.  I've known Michelle personally for several years now, and along with Coach Danny, stood up in her wedding.  Her wedding far exceeded my expectations for how well a wedding could have been planned, and just recently she decided to start this business.  From speaking with her and reading her material, she offers a variety of packages for planning the wedding, from helping during the week and day of the wedding, to full planning for the event.  Her personality will put clients and guest at ease, as she will organize the largest and smallest of details of your big day.  With her research and connections in the industry, Michelle can put you in contact with many specialized vendors (DJ's, Halls, Florists, Bakeries, etc) and help you find vendors that fit your need and wedding/event budget.

From her  website:

For as long as I can remember, I have been passionate about planning and organizing events. The wedding bug hit after working on my own wedding. Since then, I have helped plan a multitude of friend’s weddings and events.  Starting Silver Fern Events seemed like the natural progression for me.  Attention to detail and creativity have always come naturally to me and I believe that your wedding day should be perfect and stress-free.  Nothing gives me more satisfaction than pulling off a successful, unique event that your friends and family will be talking about for years.

"You hire a wedding planner not only for what they do, but also for what they know.

Most brides only plan one wedding their entire lives while a wedding planner has the knowledge, experience and understanding that can only come from coordinating numerous events.  Relying on a professional wedding planner to manage the details of the biggest day of your life is not only practical; it's an intelligent way of minimizing any unforeseen situations that may arise."

Thanks to everyone that came out to the 2nd Annual Riot Pub Crawl which took place this year on Lincoln Avenue.  In total, we sold 190 t-shirts for the event, exceeding the 175 we sold last year.  We were able to collect an ample amount of sports equipment for the Chicago Park District which we donated to Smith Park.

Special thanks to everyone that organized the event, which included Jon Wagenschutz, Chris Oliver and Danny Boy.  The top seller of t-shirts this year was David “Saze” Oyegun with 21.

Thanks for everyone that came out for the Riot's 1st Pub Crawl, which took place on Saturday.  In the end, we sold 163 t-shirts for the event, and had approximately 125 attend the Pub Crawl.  Along with making some money for the club and getting everyone together for the night, this was great publicity for the team with the amount of individuals that participated.  Most importantly, we were able to collect enough clothes and canned to benefit the Hephzibah Children’s Association, taking several trips to drop off all the donations.  I hope everyone had a great time, and thanks to everyone for giving the club a good reputation.

Special thanks to Jon "Hands" Wagenschutz and Chris "Diamonds" Oliver for arranging the event and spending the time negotiating with bars for specials.  An event like this for the amount of people that participated takes a lot of planning.  Also thanks to Mike "Hawk" Hawkins for creating the Facebook link and Danny Boy for t-shirt design and fliers.  Lastly, thanks to everyone that brought a group of friends that lead to the sales of t-shirts...noteworthy individuals from the team include: Hands, Diamonds, Pete "Ulysses S. Grant" Bolema, Auggie, Hawk, and Poppins.
